Obituary For Marcus Veazey
Marcus Veazey, 59, entered eternal rest on May 2, 2026, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Marcus was born on February 10, 1967, in New York City to Olvin Veazey (deceased) and Mabel (Jackson) Veazey.
He was the first of two children born to Olvin and Mabel. In the early 1970s, the family relocated to Bridgeport, where Marcus was raised and became a well-known and cherished member of the community.
Marcus was diagnosed at birth with Sturge-Weber syndrome, a condition that required lifelong care. Despite these neurological challenges, he maintained an extraordinary personality and embraced life with resilience, curiosity, and joy.
With the unwavering support of his family, friends, and community, Marcus lived a life full of meaningful connections and experiences. While growing up in Bridgeport, Marcus shared a close bond with his younger brother, Sedric.
Together, they participated in sports, community activities, and experiences that nurtured Marcus's inquisitive nature. He had a remarkable ability to engage in thoughtful conversations, often asking deep and thought-provoking questions about life.
Marcus was known for his honesty—he would always speak the truth, often offering insight that made others reflect and grow. Marcus was deeply connected to his family and found great joy in family outings, reunions, and meaningful conversations. Being surrounded by loved ones helped shape the vibrant personality so many came to know and cherish. He had a unique gift for bringing humor into every interaction, often leaving family and friends with unforgettable lines, quotes, and moments that will be remembered for years to come.
He also shared meaningful time and memories with his sisters Jacqueline, Vennessa, and Sherrell Dixon, and his brother Kenneth, strengthening the bonds of family through love, laughter, and shared experiences.
Marcus was socially active and eager to learn, participating in various programs designed to support and enhance his education and personal development. Through the assistance of The Kennedy Center, Marcus remained engaged, active, and connected, forming lasting relationships and continuing to thrive socially.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Mabel Veazey; his brother, Sedric Veazey; his sisters, Jacqueline (Crump) Fuller, Sherrell Dixon, and Vennessa Dixon; and his brother, Kenneth Barr. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family from the Jackson and Veazey families, all of whom will forever hold him in their hearts.
The family will receive guests during the viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026, at Morton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Spring Oak Baptist Church on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the City of Bridgeport, St. Vincent's Medical Center, and The Kennedy Center for their care, support, and compassion.
Marcus will be remembered for his warm spirit, genuine nature, and the light he brought into the lives of those around him. His life stands as a testament to perseverance, love, and the strength found in community.
Marcus will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
