Obituary For Martha Bell Randolph Young

Martha Randolph Young peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at her home on Maple Avenue in New Rochelle, New York. Martha was born on January 19, 1935, to the late Deacon Joseph B. Randolph and Martha (Anderson) Randolph.

She and her family were active members of Old Green Creek Baptist Church, where Martha accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized.

Martha loved sports and was a devoted fan of the New York Knicks and New York Jets. She was very competitive and loved engaging in conversations about politics, fashion, and music.

She always stayed informed about current events and what was happening in the world. Martha also loved plants, flowers, and spending time outdoors. Martha took great pride in her family's legacy and often spoke proudly of being a Randolph.

She deeply loved her family and enjoyed nurturing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Martha met and married Sylvester R. Young in New Rochelle, New York. Together they were blessed with two devoted children, JohnnieS. Young and Jennifer Young Johnson. Her husband, Sylvester, preceded her in death. Martha leaves to cherish her loving memories: her son, Johnnie (Monica); her daughter, Jennifer; her son-in-law, Bernard Johnson; and her grandchildren, Jovan Santiago and Brandon C. Young (Melissa). She was also blessed with five bonus grandchildren through her children's lovingly blended families: Bernard Johnson Jr. (Daonna), Tiffany Johnson, Simone Johnson, Anthony Brenza, and Arielle Romero.

Martha also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Frances R. Clements of New Rochelle, New York, and Teresa Wall of Grayson, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Josephine Randolph of Farmville, Virginia; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Martha's legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.
