Obituary For Mattie Joe Beasley Lyle
Mattie Joe Beasley Lyle was born in Prince Edward County Virginia on January 24, 1954, to the late Joseph and Mattie Walker Beasley. She entered eternal life from her residence in Pamplin, Virginia on October 7, 2024.
Mattie was raised in Prospect, Virginia where she began her early childhood education. She worked at Uniroyal in Farmville, Virginia until the business closed. She went on to work at other locations. She later moved to New London, Connecticut, and worked various jobs until her husband's health declined and they made the decision to move back to Virginia. She joined Peaks Baptist Church at an early age and after getting married she joined Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. She recently rejoined Peaks Baptist Church until her sickness.
Mattie was devoted to all of her family and friends. One of her greatest passions was cooking her rice pudding and preparing food for anyone she encountered along her journey. She loved spending time with family and friends and listening to music. She was the life of the party. Her favorite song was “The Little Red Rooster” by Sam Cooke.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Howard Lewis Lyle; one great-grandson, Amourre Watkins; three sisters, Etta Mae Beasley, Joyce Mitchell, and Martha Beasley; one brother, Daniel Beasley; two nephews, Marlon Beasley ond Loydeeka Mitchell; and one great-nephew, Quincy Hudak-Mitchell.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Nancy Gilliam (Dexter) of Pamplin, Virginia; two sons, Cleon Lyle of Lynchburg, Virginia and Lewis “LJ” Lyle of Pamplin, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Antwon, Lakeena, TaShawn, Cleon, Chakiya, Clevante, Julius, and Laiya; ten great-grandchildren, Amani, JaOnna, JerSiah, Jerkia, Diyari, Kyaire, Messiah, Kadence, Amirre, and Ariyah; one brother, Joseph Beasley (Shirley) of Prospect, Virginia; one sister Darlene Lee (Elvis) of Meherrin, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Allen Lyle, Vincent Lyle, and Lloyd “Buster” Mitchell; one sister-in-law, Karen Lyle; two godchildren, Lanay Walker and Carl Scott; one godmother, Betty Johnson; three devoted friends, Nannie Allen, Pam Scott, and Ethel Johnson; a special pet, Princess; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
