Obituary For Mattie Johnson

On the morning of August 3, 2021, the “ANGELS OF SILENCE” stopped by Mattie’s bedside at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia and sealed her lips. She so graciously stepped across the threshold into the arms of her Savior and peacefully and quietly fell asleep. Mattie Belle Turpin Johnson was born November 11, 1934 in Buckingham County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Oringe and Mary Elizabeth Paige Turpin. She was united in marriage to the late Willie K. Johnson and they were blessed with three sons. Mattie attended Buckingham County Public Schools. She worked at the Shoe Factory in Dillwyn, VA and did domestic work at various homes. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, was baptized and joined Ridgeway Baptist Church in Dillwyn, VA. She served the church faithfully as an usher and nurse, until her health began to fail approximately three and one-half years ago. She was the epitome of the “doorkeeper” in Psalm 84:10. She ushered at any church needed, always welcoming you with a sweet smile.

To Steve, Cynthia, Jeremiah, Jaylah and the entire family of your beloved Mother, Mother in-law, Grandmother and so much more. May the Peace of God be with you today and the days to come as you lay your loved one to rest. May time heal your sorrow, friends ease your pain, peace replace your heartache. A life well lived is shown in the love ones she cared for so deeply, and by the life she lived in service to God. Her spirit is at rest in heaven with our Father. Our Sincerest Condolences, Gregory & Barbara Fuller
