Obituary For Mildred Ollie Watson

Ms. Mildred Ollie Watson was born August 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Walter and Elva Christine Perkins-Watson. She was called home peacefully in her sleep while hospitalized at Cedar Sanie Hospital, Los Angeles, CA on Monday, March 28, 2023. Her son, Mark Watson, Preceded her in death (2016) earlier in life.

She attended and was the secretary at R. R. Morton High School, now Prince Edward County High School. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Peaks Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday School and church regularly. She relocating to New York to pursue a Nursing career, and then finally settling in Los Angeles, CA where she received her Nursing degree as a License Vocational Nurse Ill from LAC+ USC Medical Center.

She worked at the LAC+USC-Medical Center as a License Vocational Nurse III (LVN-3) until she retired. Once she retired, she was offered the chance to take care of some private patients, which she accepted with a loving heart and not leaving them alone.

She joined First AME Church and was introduced to the missionary groups. She eagerly joined the missionary ladies of First AME Church and was very supportive on several missionaries where she met several government officials during their time of campaigning from counsel men/women, the Mayor, the Governor as well as the President.

She was a loving and devoted mother, good neighbor, with a smile and words of kindness for everyone. As a license vocational nurse, she displayed a sense of humility, devotion to serving others, kindness, good humor, and respect for all and never sought to receive appropriate recognition. She willfully and devoted her time to those in need, caring for the sick, and many resources in the community and the missionaries for over 50 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted and loving daughter, Lisa An'Ne Dumon-Watson (Los Angeles, CA); a loving daughter in law, Patricia (Pat) Watson, (Los, Angeles, CA) a loving & devoted sister, Esther Wright of Farmville, VA; and two loving & devoted brothers: Walter Watson, Sr. (Tawanda) of Lynchburg, VA; and Reverend Lewis Watson (Arlene) of Pamplin, VA; 6-grandchildren, 12-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
