Reverend Myrtle Lorraine Gilliam, daughter of the late St. Clair and Earline Woodson Gilliam, was born April 19, 1936 in Cumberland County, Virginia. She departed this life August 3, 2021 at the Farmville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Farmville, VA. She accepted Christ, was baptized and joined her family church, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Cumberland County Schools. As a young adult, she resided in Richmond, VA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Union University. She was an elementary school teacher for Richmond Public Schools.
