Obituary For Patricia Ann Watson
Patricia Ann Watson was born to the late George and Sadie Streat on August 15, 1953. From this union, nine children were born. Just a few mere hours after birth, Patricia would lose her biological mother, Sadie and would go on to be raised by the late Preston and Anna Hunt. Patricia was then blessed to be raised alongside an abundance of cousins in addition to the original eight siblings which, ultimately, surrounded her with love and affection. Love, which she would carry with her and pour so selflessly into those around her throughout her life. Patricia was called by God at an early age, dedicating her life and beginning to serve at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Meherrin, Virginia. She then joined Levi Baptist Church in Greenbay, VA and later she would go on to join New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin, VA. Patricia would go on to find great joy and peace in singing with the Voices of Faith gospel group as well as alongside her husband, family and friends in the choir at New Bethel Baptist Church. Patricia attended and graduated from Prince Edward County Public Schools, formerly known as R. R. Moton School. During her time here, she would meet and gain amazing friendships and create lifelong memories which would be retold and relived for years to come. Following the completion of her education, Patricia met the love of her life, Sylvester “Sonny” Watson and the two were wed in August of 1973. From this union, Patricia and Sylvester would be blessed with one son, Dwayne. Throughout their 47 years of marriage, Pat and Sonny would experience a love quite like no other. The notion of fussing, nagging and bickering became a love language of its own among Pat and Sonny. In fact, their son, Dwayne would say “if they weren’t fussing, they weren’t loving.” It was truly a love that only they knew, understood and appreciated amongst each other. When you saw one, you saw the other - the original Tom and Jerry couple.
