On January 23, 2023, Phyllis Lucille Wright transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. As she said, “Tell everyone I’ve checked out.” She was born on December 30, 1949 to the late Malcolm Scott and Muriel Blackwell. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, the late Luther and Lena Cobbs. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Savior, was baptized, and joined Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. She received her education through the Prince Edward County Public Schools, attending Robert R. Moton High School until the closing of the school. She worked for Thomasville Furniture for over 30 years. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 50 years, Freddie L. Wright; three daughters, twins Stacy and Tracy Wright, and Monica W. Jennings; four granddaughters, Sydney, Shafyuh, Donisha, and Delearh; one great grandson, Symere; one sister, Cynthia; one brother, Eric Blackwell of California; two aunts, Alberta White and Corrine Wardell; one uncle, Leroy Wardell; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Wright, Louise Little, and Sandra Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
