Obituary For Rachel Frances Davis

Rachel Frances Davis was born on October 29, 1948, in Green Bay, Virginia, to the late James Henry Payne and Etta Mae Ingram Payne. On December 1, 2025, Rachel peacefully departed this life and entered her eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Davis Sr.; her parents, James and Etta Payne; her brothers Otis, James, and William Payne; and her sister Hazel Payne.

Rachel was a dedicated and faithful member of Levi Baptist Church, where she remained until her passing.

She spent seven years working at Ransom Nursing Home in Keysville, followed by a year of service at Elder Care in Farmville. She also worked as a personal care aide for Mr. Hubert Doswell. However, Rachel's true passion was caring for children, and she found her greatest joy in babysitting and nurturing the little ones who came into her life.

Rachel will always be remembered for her warm spirit and the things she loved most-cooking for family, traveling, hosting gatherings, listening to music, watching her favorite soap operas and funny movies, laughing, and wearing her signature red lipstick. Her presence brought joy, comfort, and laughter to everyone around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Tina (David), Kenneth (Nivia), and Terrell (Rebecca). She was the proud and loving grandmother of Damian, Alexis, Nia, Nina, Nixie, and Kali. Her greatest joys of all were her great-grandchildren: Ari, Ali, Aubri, Avi, and Rein.

Rachel is also survived by one brother, Charles Ingram of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Phyllis Jones of Meherrin and Gladys Wells of Richmond, VA; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Payne of Meherrin and Irene Payne of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She held a special place in her heart for her devoted friend, Joseph Stokes.

Rachel's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain with us forever.
