Obituary For Robert Edward Jackson
Robert Edward Jackson, 78, of Appomattox, Virginia, passed away
peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 27, 2025. He was born on
February 12, 1947 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, to the late Robert
and Cora E. Jackson.
Ed, as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and
joined Peaks Baptist Church in Prospect, VA. He was a faithful member
over the years until his health began to decline. He served on the Trustee
Board and sang with the Male Chorus.
Ed worked for Taylor Manufacturing for many years, with his last
employment at Thomasville Furniture Company where he worked for 35
years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Walker
Hunting Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cora E. Jackson;
son, Vincent Jackson; daughter, Karen Jackson; sisters Sarah Jones, Mae
Lottie Johnson and Virgie Nance; brothers James and Charles Jackson;
step-daughters Marlene Ferguson and Serena Green; granddaughter, LaShya
Jackson; close friends - Joe Ross, Fred Jones, and Hershey Diggs
He is survived by his wife of the home, Delores M. Jackson; sons, Michael
Jackson (Julia) of Farmville, VA, Roderick Jackson (Gina) of Nelson, VA,
and Nakia ‘Puff’ Johnson; daughter, Tomeka Scott; step-children Donald
Ferguson (Andrea), Joe Ferguson (Katha) and Ruby Kelso (Neal); sisters
Mary Johnson (Roosevelt), Viola Jackson, Doris Allen, Brenda Jackson,
Alice Staples (Danny), Loveline Faggins, and Sheila Jackson; brothers, Jerry
Walker (Jennie) and Thomas Jackson (Deloris); sisters-in-law, E. Darlene
Hix of Hampton, VA and Genessa H. Jackson of Appomattox, VA; brother-
in-law, Robert E. Hix of Pamplin, VA; grandchildren, Shavon, Tay (L. A.),
Michael Jr., Shatara, Nakia, Taykia, Dayuan, Desray, A’anyhil; eight step-
grandchildren; close friends - Alvin Beasley, Plummer Jones, and David
Franklin; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
