Quietly on Wednesday morning, August 21, 2024, at the Amelia Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Amelia, Virginia, our Lord dispatched an angel to call our loved one, Deacon Robert Lee Miller home. He was born February 17, 1934, to the late Shelton Lee Miller and Edith Booker Miller. Robert confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age, was baptized and became a life-long member of Amelia Baptist Church. He served as a deacon until he could no longer attend because of his health. He was a member of the Williams’ Singers and loved singing and praising God. No matter where, in the nursing home facility, the dialysis center, or even the times he was hospitalized, you could hear him singing praises unto the Lord. Robert served in the United States Army. He attended Epps School and R. R. Moton. Robert worked in pulpwood, was employed at the Veneer Plant-Burkeville, Holly Farms-Burkeville, and VDOT in Amelia, where he retired after 19 years of employment. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 59 years, Beatrice Johnson Miller; his son, Howard Leon Faulkner; stepdaughters, Delois Johnson and Virginia Hurtt; stepson, James “Jim” Simms; his sister, Sadie Mae Zenon; and a host of uncles, aunts, brothers in law, sisters in law, and other family members. Robert will be sorely missed and leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Katherine Lee (Perry); stepson, Walter Simms; granddaughters, Tremika Simms and Mavis Farmer (Ozzie); grandson, Clifton Johnson; great-granddaughter, Ava Brown; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
