Obituary For Romaine Anthony Smith
Romaine Anthony Smith was born on June 3, 1984, to Dave Oliver Smith and Patricia Francine Scott.
Raised by his parents in the Hampden Sydney area of Virginia, he attended Prince Edward County Schools and graduated in 2004. He passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Farmville, Virginia, at the age of 42.
Affectionately known as Ro, Maine, Chubbs, and Roachie, Romaine was honest, understanding, and loyal. He worked in construction, landscaping, and food service.
Romaine enjoyed karate and earned a brown belt.
He also loved wrestling, His father, Dave, fondly remembered how he would pretend to be a wrestler, complete with a championship belt. Romaine especially treasured spending time with his nieces and nephews and playing with them.
Whenever someone was getting ready to leave, Romaine would give them a kiss on the forehead.
His familiar words, "Love you more!" remain a cherished reminder of the affection he shared with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Latanya Smith; his great-grandparents, Charlie and Mary Thompson; his grandparents, Effie Smith, Henry Smith, and Jessie M. Scott; his uncle, Clinton I. Scott; his great-uncle, Michael E. Thompson; and his great-aunts, Phyllis Thompson, Sylvia Lee, and Rachel Lyle.
