Obituary For Ronald Edward Franklin
Ronald Edward Franklin transition from this life on February 20, 2026 at the age of 77. He was born in Prince Edward County Virginia to the late Courtney Robert and Juanita Jennings Franklin on November 28, 1948. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age, was baptized and joined Zion Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his passing. He was an active Trustee and assisted with all things Zion.
Ronnie graduated from Carver Price High School (Class of 1967). He joined the Navy in 1970 and was Honorably Discharged. He retired in 2013 from Central Virginia Electric Cooperative. After retirement, Ronnie spent time doing what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.
In 1971, Ronnie was united in holy matrimony to Joan Walker and they were married for 54 years. Two children were born to this union, Shannon Reed and Sheena Franklin. Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, sense of humor, gentle spirit, and his presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. He held a special place in his heart for the town of Pamplin and Appomattox County. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and perseverance. Ronnie lived a life, rooted in happiness, strength, and service. He was a pillar in his family and a source of wisdom and encouragement. His life reflected his faith, and his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Joan Walker Franklin, daughters Shannon Reed, Sheena Franklin, son (In-love) Garret Reed, grandchildren, Savion, Cameron, Kennedi and Brayden Reed, brother Ralph D. Johnson, Jr. (Sandra), brothers and sister-in-law‘s, Ernest and Laneuville Walker, Bennie and Henrietta Walker, Eleanor Jackson, Robert and Sally Walker, Sherrie Walker, Roy and Katherine Walker, and Mary Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
