Roy Daniel Hicks was the fth of eleven children born in Rice, Virginia to Reverend Charlie Winston Hicks and Marie Branch Hicks. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He was educated in the Prince Edward County Public School System, attending the segregated historic R. R. Moton High School. In 1960, Roy married the love of his life, Sallie Marie Johnson. eir union was blessed with one son, Roy Daniel Hicks, Jr. ey were also blessed to help raise their nephew, Anthony Lamont Johnson. After their marriage, Roy and his wife moved to Paterson, New Jersey. ere he began employment with Brogan Cadillac. In 1985, Roy and his family re-located to Richmond, VA where he continued his career as a heavy equipment truck driver. Roy was a free spirit and a devoted family man. He enjoyed shing and gardening. After retiring, he enjoyed his landscaping service business. He also provided special services to those in need.
