On Monday, July 29, 2024, God sent His angels to bring His daughter, Ruth Lorene Green, home. Ruth, affectionately known as “Kat”, was born April 26, 1944, to Allen Green Sr. and Edith Grey Green of Buckingham, Virginia.

At an early age, Ruth accepted Christ and joined Zion Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia. Facing a unique challenge, she lost her voice at a young age. Despite this, she lived a life full of love, determination, and resilience, inspiring everyone who knew her with her strength and grace. Ruth received her education at The Virginia School for Colored, Deaf, and Blind in Hampton, Virginia, where she built lasting memories.

Being non-verbal did not deter Ruth from showing love to her family. She often communicated with her bright brown eyes, beautiful smile, stingy grin, and her own version of sign language that only her family could understand.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen Green Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, six sisters: Gertrude Peaks (Joseph), Shirley Hatcher, Jean Powell (George), Diane Green, Delphine Stanton (James), and Linda Green; five brothers: James, George, Thomas (Cheryla), Carl (Janice), and Douglas (Karen) Green; sister-in-law Teresa Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
