Samuel D. Johnson, Sr (Pete), son of the late Samuel H. Johnson and May Lottie Johnson, was born on December 31, 1967.

Samuel spent his time as a construction worker and a landscaper in Powhatan until he became disabled. He resided in Farmville, VA, but answered the master’s call in Lynchburg, VA on August 28, 2024.

In addition to his parents, Sammy and May Lottie, he was preceded in death by his sister, La’Tanya Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Joyce Johnson and his godmother, Patricia Montague; his six children, Cynthia (Cindy) Johnson, Tiffany Johnson (William), Davon Simmons, Samuel “Gee” Johnson Jr., William “Woody” Johnson, and Sharna’ “Minnie” Foster as well as his bonus daughter, Germany Middleton; two sisters, Lucy Smith (Herman) and Tammie Johnson, and one God sister, Alberta Brooks; two brothers, Dwayne Johnson (Kim) and KeShawn Johnson (Tiffany) and one God brother, Billy Green; five sister-in-laws, Betty Johnson (James), Dorothy Davis (Mark), Jeannette Simmons, Diane Simmons, and Antionette Brooks; and three brother-in-laws: Bobby Simmons (Yvette), Willie Simmons, and Richardo Nash (Delores).

Pete (Papa) also leaves behind his 9 grandchildren: Isaiah, Ryan, Madison (Mia), DaMari, Jayceon, D’Aeri, Jordan, Ja’Kayla, Je’Lesa and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
