Sherman Arlieus Carter
March 02, 1970 - March 10, 2026
Obituary For Sherman Arlieus Carter
Sherman Arlieus Carter was born on March 2, 1970, at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Virginia, to Gertrude Ann Carter. He graduated from Cumberland High School, and at an early age, joined Zion Baptist Church. Sherman loved his family and friends. You would hear him singing up a storm because he had a love for music and oftentimes, he made tapes and CDs for family and friends. He was known as “DJ Cool Breeze—The Spin Master”. His biggest joy was to make you laugh and would not stop until he had you laughing uncontrollably. Sherman loved all children and before they left, he would have his own personal nickname for them. For those that knew him, he was a cheerful giver and would pass out gifts to anyone that came into his mind. Though he may be gone from us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those that knew and loved him. Sherman peacefully transitioned from this life on March 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his grandmother, Edmonia Carter, and aunt Dorothy Carter. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Gertrude Ann Carter; and three uncles, James, Arnell, and George Carter. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his grandmother, Edmonia Carter of Cumberland, VA; three aunts, Dorothy Carter of Cumberland, VA, Hazel Carter of New Rochelle, New York, and Brenda Thaxton of Durham, North Carolina; three great aunts, Mabel Gregory ( Joseph) and Thelma Jones ( James) of Cumberland, VA , and Lillian Bolden of Richmond, VA; two great uncles, Thomas Bolden (Cecilia) of Buckingham, VA and Jefferson Bolden (Elsie) of Newport News, VA; three first cousins, Michelle Carter and James Carter, Jr. of Richmond, VA and Steven Grace of Roxboro, NC; his god-mother, Brenda Woodson of Cumberland, VA; god-sister, Juanita Ayers of Cumberland, VA; several devoted cousins, Ann Bolden of Cumberland, VA, Joneese Gregory of North Chesterfield, VA, Pat and Stanford Bennett of Chesterfield, VA; his spiritual mentor, Elder Janene Jones of Richmond, VA; along with a host of adopted god-children, other relatives and friends
