Gregory, Sr. and Fannie Woodson Gregory was born in Washington, DC on February 4, 1939. Shirley, along with her parents, later relocated to Buckingham County, Virginia where she received her formal education and graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School. She was a member of Bright and Morning Star Holy Church in Dillwyn, VA, prior to moving to Brooklyn, New York. While in New York, Shirley married and out of this union, there was one son born. She attended First Baptist Church for many years where she served the Lord with all her heart. Shirley worked in retail at Abraham and Straus and Macy’s Department Store for over 50 years until she retired in May 2009.
