Obituary For Shirley Harris Bolding

On Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025, Shirley Harris Bolding departed this life and went to be with the Lord while at her home surrounded by her family.

Shirley Harris Bolding was born on September 10, 1943, in Prince Edward County to the late Alexander Harris and Emma Jane Harris.

After graduating from nursing school, she continued to become an LPN at Chippenham Hospital. After retiring from nursing, she started her own business Crafts Galore. She loved crafting (especially crocheting a baby blanket or an afghan).

A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was always there to lend a listening ear and advice to anyone that wanted it.

She joined Mercy Seat Baptist Church at an early age. She was a Missionary, Deaconess, and sang on the Senio Choir at Mercy Seat Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Lee Bolding of 55yrs, parents Alexander and Emma Harris, 1 sister and 3 brothers. This celebration of life will be remembered and cherished by two sons, Christopher (Brenda) Bolding of Farmville, VA, Kelvin (Erica Bolding of Baltimore, MD; one daughter Sheila (Richard) Alexander of Dinwiddie, VA. Nine Grandchildren, Andrew Bolding (Amber) of Chester, VA, Kyla Alexander of Dinwiddie, VA, Isaiah Bolding of Baltimore, MD, Jeremiah Bolding of Baltimore, MD, Kelaiah Bolding of Baltimore, MD, Evelyn Bolding of Farmville, VA, LaQuan (Marcia) Jackson of Fork Union, VA, Melvin Wiley, JR of Richmond, VA, Natasha Wiley of Powhatan, VA. Seven great-grandchildren, Ne'vaeh Wiley of Farmville, Aiden Jackson of Fork Union, VA, Aaron Bolding of Chester, VA and Na'Talia Gough of Farmville, VA, Liberty Jackson, Fork Union, VA, Legacy Jackson, Fork Union, VA, JaBari Haskins, Farmville, VA. Two sisters, Ann Harris and Alice Harris. One brother, Milton Harris (Hattie). And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
