On January 24, 2022, the gates of heaven opened and received our beloved Sophie Baker Gregory. She was the daughter of the late Tom Baker and Jinnie Bartee Baker, born on May 20, 1924 in Buckingham, Virginia. Sophie received her formal education in Buckingham, VA. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She worked for various companies, retiring from H&R Block income tax service. After retiring she moved back to Buckingham, VA in 1976. Sophie loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended and was baptized at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Buckingham, VA, where she served as an Usher, doing what she enjoyed most, serving as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord. When she moved to Baltimore, MD she attended New Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she also served as a doorkeeper. During the latter years of her life when she moved back to Buckingham, VA, she returned to Ridgeway Baptist Church until illness would no longer allow her to attend in person. It was her love for God that sustained her throughout her life.
