Stella Rose Redd Brown was born June 18, 1953 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. She was the middle child of five children born to Lawrence Redd and India Spraggs Redd. Stella departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Farmville, VA. She confessed the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Mercy Seat Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Trustee, former Church Clerk, and Assistant Treasurer. She was also a member of the Usher Board, and Hospitality Committee. Stella graduated from Prince Edward County High School. She began her college degree at St Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Stella graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia with a BS degree in Home Economics and obtained her Master’s degree in Administration. She retired after teaching for 32 years from the Prince Edward County Public School System. Stella remained active after her retirement by joining the Prince Edward County branch of the NAACP, Retired Teachers, and St Paul’s College Alumni Association. She was joined in holy matrimony to Paul E. Brown in October 6, 1973. Two children were born to this union. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and India Redd and a brother Lawrence Redd. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Paul Brown, one daughter and one son; Timothy Darnell Brown (Ruth), Jessica Brown; siblings, Jean Redd, Carlton Redd (Adrienne) of Farmville, VA, and Lorraine Bishop (David) of Midlothian, VA; one grandchild De’Jane’ Brown; nieces, Aijuel Redd and Amanda Redd; nephew, Lamont Redd (Sarah) of Henrico, VA; and a host of cousins.
