Obituary For Sylvester Webb Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sylvester Webb Sr., who peacefully transitioned on April 2, 2025. Born on November 17, 1930, in Crenshaw, Mississippi, Sylvester was the son of Andrew and Bashby Webb, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the loving brother to one surviving brother, Maurice Webb, and four siblings who also passed before him: Andrew Webb, David Webb, Odetha Garrett, Bessie May and Onia Crawley.

At an early age, Sylvester moved to Detroit, Michigan, to live with his sister, where he began to carve out his path in life. As a young man, he proudly served in the military before being discharged and continuing to build a life full of purpose and dedication. In 1958, he met Amanda Webb, who cared for him during his hospital stay, and from there, their love story began. They married and shared 66 beautiful years together, raising a family that meant the world to them. Their union was blessed with four children: Peggy Webb, Marcia Webb, Sylvester Webb Jr., and Gloria Moody.

Sylvester had a deep passion for life. He loved playing the lottery, cheering on his Dallas Cowboys, watching horse races, and enjoyed watching golf. Above all, he adored his family, and his legacy lives on through his two daughters, one brother Maurice Webb, 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sylvester had a successful 30-year career at Chrysler Automotive, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. His unwavering commitment to his family, his career, and his passions left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Amanda Webb, his parents, his daughter Marcia Webb, his only son Sylvester Webb Jr., and his siblings. While we mourn the loss of Sylvester, we also celebrate the life he lived—one filled with love, laughter, and a legacy of strength and resilience.

Gone but not forgotten, your spirit lives on,
In our hearts, your love forever shines strong.
Through every laugh and every tear,
Your memory stays, forever near.

Rest in peace, Sylvester Webb Sr., your legacy will forever be cherished.
