Obituary For Tammy Janice Scott Dejesus
A Woman of Courage and Faith
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept
the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
On June 2, 2026 Tammy Janice Scott left her earthly home to rest
in her heavenly home where she prepared to go through her faith
and dedication to the Lord.
On March 19, 1967, Tammy Janice Scott was born to Gilbert and
Lillie Mae Scott and raised in a nurturing home that prepared her
for life's journey to live a happy and peaceful life. She attended
Prince Edward County School to receive an education that would
give her the tools to reach her goals for a successful future. She was
baptized and joined Sulphur Spring Baptist Church where she
remained a faithful member until she began to face her health
challenges. During her time as a member, she was a Youth Leader,
Youth Choir Director, Sunday School Teach, Church Van Driver and
Vocation Bible School Teacher. In all positions she gave her
complete dedication, heart and soul into every child who stepped
into her world.
Tammy was employed with Carbone of America and Young's Quick
Corner where she became a staple and every traveling and
neighboring customer looked forward to her smiling face, special
menu items and the best cup of coffee of the day. She greeted them
with exceptional and loving customer service while they gave
account of eating well, being happy and being safe. Although she
gave her full loyalty to this position everyone knows that no
position gave her more pleasure than being a babysitter and taking
care of family and community children. Each child was her own
child who looked to her with stars in their eyes.
Though preceded in death her parents Gilbert & Lillie Scott, two
brothers Dale and Glenn Scott, one grandson Messiah Rodney
Vaughan...
She leaves life's memories to her 2 daughters, Cherrall (Kali)
Trent and Bianca Vaughan both of Farmville, VA. Four
granddaughters, Ke'Asia Trent, Kamirrah Trent, Kalia Trent
and Aubree Vaughan and one Great Granddaughter on the
way Zariyel Alani Janice Trent. Two sisters, Cheryl (James)
Paige of Pamplin, VA and Wanda (Melvin) Armistead of
Cullen, VA. One brother Tyren(Melissa) Scott of Pamplin, VA.
One sister-in-law Pamela Scott of Prospect, VA.
A special cousin/sister Karla Scott, nephew Cory Lowther who
supported her during her sickness.
Tammy shared her life with her church and the children of the
community. Her love for her parents and siblings was
unwavering. In her heart her big brothers were Kings and her
sisters were Queens. Her lifeline was her daughters and
granddaughters always wanting the best that lift had to offer.
When she entered the room, our children flocked to her with
joy. She sacrificed; she supported and showed endless love.
Her faith in God made her resilient; she wore it like a pearl
necklace. As her health became challenging, she chose to keep
her head up and be happy. She continued to have words of
encouragement and otter any support while facing her health
issues. Her flame and her spirit burned bright right through
her pain. She chose to stay in faith; she chose to trust the
divine, she chose to give love, spready joy and find beauty
even in her suffering. Believing in a bigger plan and when the
time was right, he would fall right into her hands. She lived
life through joy, fear, laughter and tears.
