Theodore Roosevelt Johnson, known to family and friends as “Roosevelt”, was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia on August 7, 1941 to Clarence and Mary Saunders Johnson. He entered eternal life from The Woodland Nursing Facility in Farmville, VA on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Roosevelt was raised in Prospect, VA where he began his early childhood education. He was a self-employed logger in Prospect, VA. He loved cutting wood and working on his power saw. He loved to entertain family and friends and especially, playing cards (spades) with his family and friends. He loved to make others laugh. He joined First Rock Baptist Church at an early age.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by: his parents, Clarence and Mary Johnson; one son, Theodore (Frankie); four sisters, Betty, Rosa, Violet and Corrine and one brother, Harry. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Mary E. Johnson of Prospect, VA; one son, Robert Johnson (Tammy); one daughter, Mary Ann Gibson; two step children, Neil and Jeremie; three grandchildren, Daltwan, Latoya and Jermon; twelve great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Ella, Viola, Doris, Brenda, Shelia and Alice (Daniel); two brothers-in-law, Jerry Ray (Jenny) and Thomas Jackson (Delores); a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Alvin Beasley, Wayne Johnson and Bobby Brown. A special shout out goes to his spades friends (you know who you are).
