Obituary For Vera Willis Banks

Vera Willis Banks, 84 of Dillwyn, Virginia (formerly of Fork Union,
VA) was born March 23, 1939. She departed this life suddenly on April
22, 2023 to her heavenly home from Lynchburg General Hospital in
Lynchburg, VA. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Prince Willis
and Deaconess Bessie Lewis Willis of Thessalonia Baptist Church.
Vera joined Thessalonia Baptist Church of Bremo Bluff, VA at an early
age. Serving faithfully, she was a member of the Thessalonia Baptist Church
Senior Choir for many years and held other official duties pertaining to the
choir.
She was employed as a housekeeper and caregiver. She attended Shiloh
and S.C. Abrams schools. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to
gospel music, and was a great enthusiast of flowers.
She always kept the faith and touched everyone who came to know
her and love her, as a godly woman. She was strong in her faith and was a
devoted and loyal wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by: her husband of 66 years, Mr. Robert Banks, Sr. of
Dillwyn, VA (formerly of Fork Union, VA), currently residing with devoted
and loyal daughter and son-in-law, Anthony & Melissa Gray.
Vera is survived by: two daughters, Melissa Gray(Anthony)and her
little angel, Baby A’Ayaunna) of Dillwyn, VA and Sharon Johnson(Erwin)
of Richmond, VA; three devoted sons Robert Banks Jr (Donna) of
Goochland, VA, Steven Banks (Hazel) of Esmont, VA, and Kelvin Banks
(Tammie) of Scottsville, VA; seven grandchildren; great grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She also leaves to cherish her memories: one brother, Eugene Willis of
Richmond, VA ; three sisters, Coriene Nobles of Richmond, VA, Ophelia
Bradley(Edward) of Fredericksburg, VA, Carolyn Baskfield(Curtis) of
Glen Allen, VA; one sister-in-law Lenora Willis of Richmond, VA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Prince and Bessie Willis;
sister, Catherine Manley; and brother, Bernard Willis.
