Obituary For Watt Edward Hill

Watt Edward Hill departed this life Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at his home in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. He was born October 12, 1954 to the late Gertrude E. Hill and he was the fourth of eight children. At an early age, he was baptized and he became a member of Reed Rock Baptist Church in Amelia, VA. Later, he was a Trustee and sang with the Men’s Choir. Watt also helped maintain the church grounds. Watt attended Amelia County Schools. Additionally, he received training in the trades and tractor trailer driving. Watt was employed as a Driver and a Laborer throughout his life in many capacities. He worked at Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory, Slayton Well Drilling, Williams Trucking and many more. He was also employed by the Town of Farmville for 17 years. Watt enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved fixing things including cars, lawn mowers and anything else that needed to be fixed. Watt was always ready to complete a job or lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He was a hard worker and always liked to stay moving. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Gertrude Hill; sister, Lillie Sims and an infant son. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of near 45 years, Hazel, who was his devoted caregiver; daughter, Dimetra Rodgers (Richard); son, Michael Owens Webber (Leticia); two sisters, Marjorie Washington and Lillian Craft; four brothers, Joseph (Mary Carol), Wayne, Warren and Calvin; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; four grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
