Wesley James McAfee was born January 4, 1980, to Wanda Jean McAfee and Edward Walker. He was born at San Leandro Vesper Hospital in San Leandro, California. He departed this life on earth at his residence in Richmond, VA. Wesley’s early education was administered through private schooling. He attended Striver’s School in Hayward, California and Hope Academy Private School in Oakland, California. He graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland, California, with the class of 1998. Wesley entered the Peralta College System, where he studied African American Studies, Social and Behavior Science, and Child Development Education. Wesley took classes at both Laney College and Merritt College. Wesley accepted Christ early in life and was baptized and became a member of ACTS Full Gospel COGIC in Oakland, California. Wesley belonged to several choirs, played drums, and sing in the church. Wesley enjoyed singing and ministering through music. Wesley had various forms of employment. He was “Jack of All Trades,” much thanks to his uncles. Wesley loved and has held jobs with all sorts of animals. He was working for United Parcel Services (UPS) at the time of his transition. Wesley was proceeded in death by his loving grandmother, Myrlin D. Harrington. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his mother, Wanda Jean McAfee; his father, Edward Walker; his daughter, Iyana Nicole McAfee; brother, Alex Walker; two uncles, James E. McAfee and Reginald V. McAfee (Margaret McAfee); an aunt, Clara L. McAfee-Evans (Henry Evans); cousins, Gastone Evans, Josmine L. Evans, Sean S. McAfee, Shynna Garza, Shyann Clement; and a village of family, friends, and loved ones. Let’s not forget his best friend, “Pharoh.”
