Obituary For Yvonne Chambers Eldridge

Yvonne Chambers Eldridge was born on June 2, 1959, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Yvonne was the daughter of Julia Gough and the late Cleveland Tyree Chambers, Sr. On August 11, 2025, our beloved Yvonne peacefully left this world at home, surrounded by love. She was 66 years old.

She grew up in Buckingham County and graduated from Buckingham County High School in 1976.Yvonne gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Morning Valley. She sang in the choir, lifting her voice in praise, and loved to hear Ja’quan sing “Break Every Chain,” “I Came to Tell You,” and “Victory Is Mine.” Her faith was a quiet strength that carried her through life.

She had a warm, fun-loving spirit. Yvonne loved her “stories” on TV, especially The Young and the Restless. She had a way of turning an ordinary day into one filled with smiles. Her favorite color was blue, her laughter was contagious, and she had a special way of teasing and joking that brought joy to family gatherings. She enjoyed her favorite foods: hog maws, German chocolate cake, and, in her own words, “a good burnt hotdog on a charcoal grill.” She could make stuffing that you’d never forget, cornbread that everyone loved, and pizzas that dad talked about for years.

Yvonne lived with her mother, Julia, for many years, sharing a close and special bond. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, but more than that, she was a source of laughter, comfort, and joy to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by: her son, Jermaine Chambers; stepdaughter, Patrice Durrette; grandchildren, Ja’quan Chambers, Aiyana Chambers and JaeLynn White; sisters, Barbara Stanton (Lenon), Sylvia Chambers, and Penelope “Penny” Chambers; brothers, Bruce Chambers (Edna), Andrew “Uncle Scotty” Chambers, and Cleveland Tyree Chambers Jr. (Julia mae). Her beloved nieces and nephews include Keya, Tyleik, K’shawn, Chana, Miguel, Derrick, Ladosha, Angela, Falencia, Donovan Stanton, and Broderick Stanton, along with great-nieces and nephews who adored her.

Yvonne didn’t care much for flowers, but she filled every room she entered with beauty, warmth, and light. She leaves behind memories we will cherish forever of her laughter, her kindness, her faith, and the love she gave so freely. We will miss her deeply, but we find peace in knowing she is resting in the arms of the Lord.
